Back Seat Driving - Project 9 - CC Manual

Will you please Shut up Mushi ? Just let me do what I am doing . This is how I screamed at my wife when she started poking her nose while I was preparing an Omlette for breakfast.  She continuously keeps bugging me to an extent that I shouted and said “ Do you think that I don’t know how to make an Omlette??
She said I know that you know how to make an Omlette, however this is exactly how I feel when you keep on talking while I am driving the Car.

TMOD, fellow TM and Guests… G.Evening.

How many of us sitting in this room drive a Car sitting behind the steering?
And how many of us drive the car Sitting on Side / Back Seat?

I am not happy to see this number and let me tell you Why ???

It was 16th of December 2011 Friday Morning, my sister called me that Aadil get ready … we all friends are going to Al Ain .. Jebel Hafeed. Although, I was reluctant to go because of Long driving, still got ready for the sake of my Family. We have decided to meet up at the 1st ADNOC petrol pump on Al Ain Highway.

I was driving my Honda Accord and in my car was my family – my 77 yrs young mother who sat on side next to me. 2 kids Basit and Saif and my only wife sitting in the back seat of my car. After we crossed Garhoud Bridge and entered Al Ain Highway I casually asked my Wife to drive the Car. Since she got a driving license few months back this drive would help her gaining confidence on driving on highway.

Normally she refuses to drive on Highways, however on that day she immediately agreed. We changed seats and now I am sitting exactly on the back side of a driver.

The car was zooming to the road speed limit and as usual I was ALSO controlling the car with my continues instructions to my wife …. Slow down … fast … overtake…. Come in the side lane … overtake etc.

We saw the exit to Petrol Pump and I asked my wife to slow down which she did but she slowed to a great extent and which was dangerous as well and I again shouted … Mushi drive little fast we are still few mts away. She started speeding …. 50 .. 60 …. 80 and for or a moment she must have forgotten that we have to take a right to Petrol Pump, but I didn’t forgot and and all of a sudden when I noticed the right to Petrol station and I shouted … Mushi …. Right … right … right. My wife turned the steering to right and could not control the car at that speed and she hit the pavement. Boom… Thanks to GOD that the car didn’t overturned or turned sideways.
To our luck there was a bush (kind of a tree) which helped the car to give a  cushion effect and it got stopped.
However because it hit the pavement with such a great speed that both the airbags came out. The car was full of smoke and dust and it smelled as if the car is going to explode. Except me everyone in the car started crying. I tried to gain all my strength and came out …. My mother was in a shock and although was in her senses was not talking. We could see blood coming out of my wife’s lips – maybe because of the airbag hit. She got jammed between the seat and steering. Slowly we all came out and checked each other. My mother started complaining that she is having a severe pain in the chest. We thank to GOD that at least both of my kids  were completely safe and were not injured. My mother and Wife were hospitalized for 3 hrs  in Al Ain Hospital.

Friends a question for all of you ?? Who do you think is the cause of Accident.
1.     Driver or 2. A Back seat Driver ???
I learnt a hard way that do not do Back seat driving – Its extremely dangerous.

I would like you all to repeat this right after me. From Now … No Backseat Driving … From Now … No Back seat Driving …. From Now No Back Seat Driving.

“Back seat Driving is a BOMB”

Over to you TMOD.
