What do you think is going on here in a Toastmasters Meeting?
Is this a play ground or What ?????
I am sure many of you must be thinking on this lines …. Isn’t it???
This was a game of Cricket which  everyone sitting  this room must be following ?
TMOD , Fellow TM and Guests …… Good evening
It was 13th June 1989-  Finals of 20 over cricket match between Young star and  Shah bass  Team @ at a  Community level in Baroda. Young star team was batting first and within 5 over’s  they lost 4 wickets. At no. 6 a player by the name VIP walked in and slowly went to the non striking end.  Mr. Farid Batliwala a good cricketer of his time  – was an umpire and  he said some Golden words to  VIP and which has made a GREAT difference in the match and Life of VIP. Mr. Farid Batliwala said : Son … Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball ….. You will get a easy deliveries to hit shots and make runs. You have a tough obstacle in the form of an opposition team. They will stop you to score runs but you have to overcome that obstacle as well.  Your job is to have patience stay on the pitch and make runs.   VIP  just  listened to him and Young star  Scored 85 runs in 20 over’s loosing 9 wickets  out of which  VIP scored 57 runs not out. Although Young star  lost the match but VIP was declared  the man of the match….and VIP  learned an important lesson in his Life. Even though the match was lost VIP was a winner because till the last ball delivered he was only having one thought in his mind “Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit shots and make some runs”.
On 3rd Oct. 1996, VIP got an opportunity to come and try his luck in the job market of Dubai and make  his career.  Life was not easy for him . He went door to door of office trying to get a job but no luck. After struggling for many days  this young man got an opportunity to work as an insurance consultant. He cleared  his initial one to one Table topics session with the bosses and now asked to appear for his written test to check his English and Mathematics skills, but unfortunately he failed in both ?
He could not get that job but he didn’t lost his hope and remembered that Golden words of Mr. Farid Batliwala…. “Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit  shots and make some runs”.

Looking to his situation his friends and well wisher  suggested him to go back to his country.  VIP almost made up his mind to go back but before taking a final step to QUIT, he made a FINAL call to his Baba– Father. VIP was almost in Tears and said  Baba  it is very difficult job market here in Dubai, it has been almost 3 months no job , no money as well and  i am getting frustrated. I even got failed in some English and Mathematics test also.  Please advise what to do. VIP wanted his father to agree  to his decision to come back. He was looking for some re-affirmation.
But to his surprise his Baba said him the same thing  in different version… Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit  shots and make some run”. He also give him a courage and motivation that “Son… in the game of Long Jump the athlete has to go few steps behind to make a big jump and you have actually gone few steps back”. Don’t come before you attempt your jump completely. Don’t worry about the money I will send you more if you need it. Your mother and wife are here praying for your happiness and prosperity. Keep a strong belief in yourself and GOD.
These  sentences from his father worked like a magic. It helped  VIP to go out once again and start looking out for a job with full energy and enthusiasm. VIP was just looking for some support only.  GOD was also looking from up there and finally after a struggle of 5 months he got a job as a Consultant in an Insurance Brokerage Firm. This was only possible because reiterate the words in his mind  “Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit  shots and make some runs”.
After getting a job also it was not an easy going. Since it was a sales job VIP has to meet clients and  convince them to buy an insurance. As he was new in the industry with no experience It was getting difficult for him to establish that TRUST which is required in insurance industry.. Commuting was a big hurdle. Since he could not afford a Car Licence he applied for a motor cycle licence which he got in 1 months time. Back of his mind only one line “  Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit  shots and make some runs”.
With the help of some Loan amount VIP purchased a motorcycle and then things started working towards his Goal. He started meeting more people and  showing them how he and his services can be of a value to them. Fortune favors the brave one. Later on he purchased a Car. In April 2008 the same VIP who failed in Mathematics test became the First Certified Financial Planner of UAE. Also the same VIP, who failed in English Aptitude test joined Toastmasters in April 2010, doing his P10 today in the same room. He is also now conducting Professional Seminars in English all across the UAE. The only reason for his success is the advice which he got from his Umpire and Baba “  Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit  shots and make some runs”.
This VIP – TM Aadil Kadri would like to thank each and every TM and friends who have helped him reach to this stage of his life. A special thanks to  my Baba, Amma and Mr. Farid  Batliwala  who has helped this self made man reach where he is now.
Remember this golden advise : Don’t lose patience …. Stay on the Pitch, face every ball, You will get a easy deliveries to hit shots and make some runs”.

Once again starts playing a Cricket with a bat and ball and making an action as if he has hit a Sixer.
